I got an itch to make a fun, thought-out capture the flag map with good looks and fun gameplay. A few months later, Shot Through is born. This has probably been the most satisfying map for me to make, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
The gameplay is pretty fast and requires some amount of team coordination in order to control and win the map. Sightlines are quite long in places, but with no railgun present, you won't be able to do much more than take potshots at your enemy from a distance. The flag rooms have multiple entrances, with each one having its advantages and disadvantages depending on which way you are going. The base outskirts can be used for defensive positions or taken up for more strategic attacks. The middle ground is open with a few side halls and ledges to navigate through, and a red armor in the middle marks the center of the map's rotational symmetry. Overall these elements make for a fun, fast-paced capture the flag map.
The visuals are easy on the eyes and complement the gameplay nicely. I've taken full advantage of evil lair's beautiful e8 texture set and applied it to sleek geometry and architecture, which makes for an overall satisfying atmosphere.
